Cuban Passports

A Cuban passport application is usually submitted to the Cuban Embassy in the applicant’s area. General requirements may change without notice, so it is always a good idea to check up on them before submitting any documents. Cuban passports can also be used as a valid identification document, which is always a good thing if you are in need of official identification.

Types Available

A Regular passport is the passport issued to most citizens of Cuba. It doesn’t grant any special privileges other than travel internationally.

A Diplomatic passport is issued to Cuban diplomats or emissary envoys doing diplomatic work in other countries. It does not grant diplomatic immunity to the bearer.

Requirements

The following are the requirements to obtain a Cuban passport. The requirements must be fulfilled and submitted to the Cuban Consular office.

  • An application form for a passport, which must be submitted in two copies. The form must be completely filled out. Application forms can be obtained online or at the Cuban Embassy itself.
  • Two recent photographs, front view, with the face clearly shown. The size must be 2 x 2 inches.
  • Proof of identification, which can either be an expired passport (if this is for renewal) or a valid birth certificate.
  • Application and processing fee, to be paid via money order.
  • Additional Information

When filling out the passport application form, it is preferred that a black-inked pen be used and that marks that will be made do not go beyond the box borders. When printing out the name, it must be made sure that it corresponds to the name that is in the official birth certificate.

In order to travel to Cuba you must have a Cuban passport. You have to submit an application. You can do it by yourself or you can go to a one of these agencies and pay for it. Good luck.
