Venezuelan Passports
If you’re a Venezuelan and you want to visit other countries, you will definitely need a passport. A passport is issued by the Venezuelan government and identifies you as a Venezuelan national who has the right to be permitted entry to a foreign land. You can apply for a passport at your local Venezuelan Embassy or Consulate.
Types Available
Venezuelan citizens are issued regular passports for normal travel abroad. Currently, biometric passports are being issued to the citizens, which have been issued after July of 2007. Venezuela’s biometric passport has an RFID chip containing the holder’s photo and fingerprints. There is a possibility that in the future, the Venezuelan government will change the passport format to one with a blue cover and the Mercosur inscription.
Requirements
The requirements you need to apply for a Venezuelan passport are the following:
The original copy of the applicant’s Venezuelan Identity Card, as stated in Article 5 of the Regulation of Passports;
Four recent photos of the applicant. The size must be 35×45 mm. They must have been taken not less than three months from the date of the application and at least two of the photographs must be signed by the photographer verifying their authenticity;
A copy of the applicant’s proof of residency, such as the citizenship card or a residence visa. The proof of residency must have been issued by an official local authority;
A completely filled out passport application form. The forms can be obtained online or at the local Venezuelan Embassy.
Applicants who are naturalized must submit the Official Gazette of the event. If the naturalization was formalized through Naturalization Certificate, then the certificate should be forwarded together with the declaration that it will be Venezuelan;
Processing fee for the passport application.
For minors, there are some additional requirements that must also be submitted.
The original birth certificate of the child;
An authorization document signed by both parents;
The original identity papers of the parents, as well as notarized copies;
A copy of the parents’ marriage certificate;
For divorced parents, a copy of the documents stating custody of the child, or Homeland Powers for the child.
